Clements splits onto AERC WP list ? was created by Richard Rafe
Now that Clements based lists have been updated with recent splits, this makes the AERC WP list outdated. How about adding the relevant Clements splits into the AERC WP list. You have already set precedent for diverging from AERC - several splits are present and tagged as pending (eg Canada goose, Cory's shearwater) and several species not listed by AERC are listed as pending (eg parrotbills, crested myna). Half a dozen of the Clements splits apply to the WP.

Hi Richard
Whilst we readily add pending species to our checklists for new records we tend to avoid doing this for potential taxonomic changes. In this particular case we were provided with a draft of a new AERC list and so highlighted the potential taxonomic changes as pending species in BUBO Listing. Although the AERC taxonomic committee hasn't been very active it apparently is still intending to publish an update, for which there has been some recent discussion on BirdForum . I expect this is somewhat optimistic, but it does suggest publication "before the end of July"!
There is no indication that the AERC would just adopt Clements changes and so we will look to the official AERC update rather than pre-empting anything.
