Turkish Bird Checkist on BUBO Listing
I am a Turkish birdwatcher and twitcher. I came to BUBO Listing to share my Turkish tick list with others, but later I found out that a Turkish Bird List does not exist. It is actually quite normal, as there is no official records/rarities committee in Turkey, and there is no certain list to use.
However is it all possible to just make symbolic list, just to keep me and other Turkish bird watcher who is/will be a member of BUBO listing busy? Because if that is possible, I can find the most reliable Turkish checklist I can find, or maybe even make one myself that most people will agree.
So far I'm using the WP list; but as all my ticks are from Turkey, the total number of species I've observed in 2 years (since I started birding) is really low when compared with total number of species on the WP list (about %25).
Thank you for your help

As you will realise, we've been struggling to keep up with adding new lists! Turkey is though the most requested list by our users so I'll see if I can add this within a few days. I'll use a Turkey list from Avibase which is generally the best option when no official list is available.

I am very pleased to hear that; however I've just checked the AviBase list and there seems to be c.20 extra species that normally shouldn't be on the list (Canada Goose, Caucasian Snowcock, White-tailed Tropicbird, Solitary Snipe for instance).
The KuşBank (Birdbank; a bank of bird data on Turkey) list is much more reliable, with only 472 species (maybe more with a few taxonomical splits).
However, I'd be happy with any Turkish list

Any joy with a list for Turkey yet as I'm unable to find one using 'Create New List'? I've got my 1990 dog-eared paper list to hand, would love to get it on BUBO...

James

However, I will send you a copy of it now, just so there can be a Turkish List on BUBO. On any further update I will let you know.
Cheers, Kuzey.

1) IOC has split the Purple Swamphen-complex into 4 species. Out of these, Western and Grey-headed Swamphen have occurred in Turkey. Western is a vagrant with one record and Grey-headed is a local breeder.
So
Sazhorozu - Porphyrio porphyrio - Purple Swamphen
should be changed to
Batı Sazhorozu - Porphyrio porphyrio - Western Swamphen (bold as it is rare)
Sazhorozu - Porphyrio poliocephalus - Grey-headed Swamphen
2) This year two new species has been added to the Turkish list. These are obviously rare and need to be bold.
Cambaz Kartal - Terathopius ecaudatus - Bateleur
Sazak Mukallidi - Iduna rama - Syke's Warbler
3) Black-throated Accentor, already in the list, should be bold.
Thanks.
