Twitchin' days are a distant memory. However, I am known to travel for a rarity if it's close enough to home and a dead cert.
Eg: unable to fly, dead or been hanging around so long it's been twitched to death and then I can get a good look at it without been sworn at or trampled to death.
I am an amature birder, based in mumbai. A founder member and co-ordinator of one of the most popular bird clubs - Mumbai Birdwatchers Club. Have been birding since the last 15 years and leading birdwalks for various NGOs including the Bnhs and WWF. Have started an exclusive Bird-watching tour company - NATURE INDIA that organizes guided birdwatching tours all over India. Also does some bird photography.
Travel and birding along the way
Beginner Birder
...learner a little bit more every day.
Birdwatching seriously since 1985, seeing greater yellowlegs, greater sandplover and little whimbrel just by being in the right place, not knowing that they were there ! A jammy start to a modest twitching career !!!
Avid birder, born in Ireland, though now living in Sweden. Into drawing birds in the field, photography and more recently recorded birdsounds...
Falkland Islands (Malvinas)
Former UK twitcher, lived in the Falkland Islands since January 1987
I've been birding seriously since the mid eighties (ie keeping detailed notes and lists). North Buckinghamshire was my main birding area until the late nineties, with many twitches to Scillys, Shetland, Ireland once and most places in between! I now live in Essex. I have not twitched since 2001, but am often tempted, money and time hold be back!
Keen birder - been doing it since I was knee high to a goose - but never really hit the high spots due to work, women, drink, kids, football, etc.
I've been birding since about age 6 and am now rather older than that. I started my "real" birding in Suffolk during family holidays when I went to proper birding places, like Minsmere, as opposed to watching in my granny's back garden in Surrey (full of Turtle Doves in those days). I then graduated to Dungeness where I spent many a happy (and slightly hung-over) a day. Having lived and been birding in Yorkshire for 21 years I moved to Orkney in August 2009 - ambition a self-found list of 300.
