The following list is a simple summary of the taxonomic differences between the Clements and IOC world lists. It excludes all species that are taxonomically equivalent on the two lists. Note that because the ordering of the two lists varies it is not possible to present this summary in a strict order that follows either Clements or IOC; instead we have concentrated on keeping related taxa together. In the majority of cases the Clements "superspecies" is listed first but not always: for example, the Clements Crested Bobwhite Colinus cristatus superspecies is listed below the equivalent IOC species of C. cristatus and C. leucopogon. Note that the Clements list also contains a number of extinct species that are omitted from the IOC list.
