Instead Carla made a wrong tern, and we saw a gripping shape fly over the hill in front of us. We thought it might be a hen harrier, but as we turned around the bend we all saw it wasn't and I called out 'Owl!'. We IDed it as short eared before it flew over the hill again. Absolutely incredible way to end a great day's birding."
