Relatively late arrival to birding in the late 90s, now more constrained by parental responsibility - but still manage the odd new bird. Have also managed to see all UK breeding butterfly species plus a few rarities, including (self-found) Long-tailed Blue on the Isles of Scilly in 2006.
Welcome to Madrid as seen through my eyes.

Birder born in north Nottinghamshire before moving to Yorkshire. Lived in West Yorkshire near Keighley until recently when I moved to North Ferriby near Hull.
I am a member of the Patchwork Challenge admin team, helping to run the increasingly popular UK patch birding competition.
Watched birds for most of my life but never made any lists.
I have decided to start keeping lists and turn my interest in birds into a much bigger hobby.
Tour leader for Sicklebill Safaris and Field Guides Inc
Professional product photographer, amateur wildlife photographer and very amateur birder. I have a lifelong fascination with owls, and I even support Sheffield Wednesday because of it...

I was a keen if inept birder in my teens, never really learned where to go birding. Then came Uni sex & drugs & rock,n,roll, and one way or another more or less stopped birding picking it up again in 2005.
I never stopped looking at birds though, just didn't put in any effort.
I only really started getting a bit serious again in 2006.
Hence a british list of only 160
For my ref that's 141'st of 154 who actually have lists on Bubo ( with more people joining in, I guess as my list grows, my ranking is actually likely to go down !!!!)

Retired and took to bird watching and Photography as a new hobby. Almost 5 years later I know have a good data base of photos and spend most of of time birding in the Notts, Lincs areas.
'Enthusiastic amateur' birder since 2000.
My 'approach' to birding has changed dramatically since I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018. Following surgery and then a course of radiotherapy, I attended a course run by MacMillan Cancer just before lockdown kicked off in March 2020, during which I was encouraged to set myself a weekly fitness target. I decided to set myself a walking target and, coincidentally, about that time I also found out about the ‘green birding’ project set up by Gary ‘the green birder’ Prescott – all of which means that since May 2020 I have walked or cycled to lots and lots of nature reserves and other birding hotspots within a 10 mile radius of where I live in Totton, near Southampton. Incidentally the target was walking 50,000 steps, in fact I've averaged over 90,000 - nature as therapy indeed!

Birding since I was 9 ish!
Been birding all my life, but got a bit more serious about it in the mid 80's.
Missed a load of good birds over the years due to health problems, but I'm not really bothered by it. Nice to see new birds and travel round the country, and as long as I have a bit of fun while doing it I'm happy.
I've been birding since I was 14 thats 34 yrs in total and am now looking forward to hitting my target of 500 BOU by 50 hopefully in 2008. Based in Lincs through all that time apart from 6 years Uni in London. Managed to stay married with 3 children all over 18 despite a fair amount of twitching from 1987 onwards. I've travelled a reasonable amount in the western pal and having got a conscience about carbon output I'm now focusing on my UK green list. Haven't actually got out of Lincs on foot or by bike yet though!
