I have been interested in birding since about the age of 8 years of age. Had a long period when children and wife meant i didn't get to do any serious birding but have just got the bug again this year and am now birding as much as possible, hence 25 new species this year (2011) which for me is exceptional - here's to many more!! I only twitch locally within 50 miles of my home in Tyne and Wear, UK

Recently semi-retired site manager at NWT Holme Dunes. Enjoying spending more time in the field and showing folk West Norfolk's Wildlife. The winter ahead is to get the bare bones of my list together through field guides, all my i-record records then finally page by page through all my notebooks, and of course record more species throughout the winter.

This year I am attempting to break the non-motorised year list record held currently by Chris Mills. I am also visiting every RSPB and WWT nature reserve in the UK, around 200 in total and doing so by cycling only, with a few timetabled boats to get to the islands.
Also visiting lots of schools to take assemblies, talk with children and spread the Eco Schools message.
All this is in order to raise funds for 3 charities; Asthma UK, the WWT and the RSPB.

An accidental birder. A road traffic accident in 2015 got me started all over again...
Started semi birding in 82 however drifted away from the hobby whilst living in Gloucestershire my home county due to family commitments career etc etc - , Moved to North Cornwall in 2011, after a redundancy from a life long career in advertising and re kicked started the birding bug, I mostly bird around North Cornwall as a traditional birder minus camera!
