ESSEX BIRDER WHO AT FIRST RELUCTANTLY STARTED TO TWITCH FROM 2009. I CURRENTLY NOW LIVE BETWEEN ESSEX (WORK) & NORFOLK (COTTAGE FOR LEISURE/BIRDING). SINCE 2009 I HAVE STARTED TO BUILD UP MY LIFE LIST WITH MAINLY SIGHTINGS IN EAST ANGLIA WHICH HAS RECENTLY (OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS) SPREAD TO ANYWHERE WITHIN A 5/6 HOUR DRIVE & DEPENDENT ON THE COST OF FUEL.
Keen local birder who will make the odd excursion for a 'tick'. Was into birds from early age but internet age kicked started the passion.
West Ham United supporter
Started contributing to Glos birding in 1978 when I was 14 and my local patch was Walmore Common. Glos County Recorder 1992-2000 and regularly involved in local survey work. Also write a monthly round-up for Birdwatching magazine. Rarely twitch, but like to visit hot-spots such as Scilly, Lundy and west Cornwall in search of goodies.

Keen birder since 1994 or thereabouts, still quite a few signficant gaps in my UK list, but it's fun plugging them in slowly. Not averse to the odd twitch, as long as it's not too far away!

I'm a birder just getting out of the novice stage and into the journeyman stage of birding. I just say my 300th Ohio bird on Saturday - White-winged Crossbill.
New to birding, hoping to build my list up soon.
Dipping since 1988 - best dips include Double-crested Cormorant (on the first day it didn't come in, having been present for six weeks), Sibe Rubythroat in Dorset (my driver saw it but I walked up the hill), Lark Sparrow at Waxham, Parula, B+W, Y-rumped and Chestnut-sided Wbrs, Middle-spotted Wpr, Belted Kingfisher, Black-bellied Storm and Swinhoes Petrels, Ruppell's and Ern Bonelli's Wbrs, Tufted Puffin and BC Bee-eater!! Latest dip - Dusky Thrush after an overnight drive from Stornoway!
Mainly interested in insects particularly dragonflies and butterflies, birds are a sideline that get fitted in when the former aren't about.
I am the current CEO of BTO. A birder since the age of 7, with note-taking and specialist trips starting in 1971. Late onto the world scene, I'm never going to be a big world-lister, but now choosing a 'bucket-list' of 50 most desirable species world-wide. British, Self-found British and Norfolk lists all relatively important.
Semi-retired birder and twitcher when I can get away with it! Began birding about 11-12 years ago, wish I'd started much earlier in life.
