A bird watcher fascinated by bird migration and excited by the identification of birds both by jizz and detailed in-hand examination. I enjoy local birding with the occasional trip further afield and I am a qualified BTO bird ringer

Started birding (or at least nest finding !) when I was 8, and have been involved in birding/conservation ever since. I was largely brought up in central/west Norfolk and 'cut my birding teeth' in the Fens (Wisbech Sewage Farm was still active in those days), at Snettisham and along the north Norfolk coast. I have travelled fairly extensively both for work and on birding trips. I currently largely divide my time between Leeds and south London (plus some SE Asia) where I work as an Ecologist/Ornithologist/Environmental Consultant.

A birder since 1987, occasional twitcher. Always do some birding when abroad, but have never been abroad for birding only. Rarities found myself and accepted include the first Tawny Pipit for Fairburn Ings RSPB, Little Bunting at Loch Ruthven RSPB, Allen's Gallinule and American Bittern at Erjos Ponds, Tenerife accepted by the Spanish Birds Rarities Committee via Tony Clarke.
Birding since I was in a pushchair. Thanks due to a father that instilled a thorough grounding in all things birdy.
Was encouraged not to go to Scilly until I could id 300 species. Twitching on and off since the mid 80's. 20 years a ringer. now a dedicated patch watcher.
Norfolk Listing is my main interest now as far as birding goes and got lots of tarts ticks still missing !!
A newbie to the twitching scene!

Birder since around 1998, zoology student in training. Most of my birding occurred on various internships around the eastern continental US, but I'm really hoping to travel abroad someday.
If you happen to look at my life list, "relic birds" are those that I know I've seen in my life before I kept track of where and when. They'll all have my birth date instead of the actual date.
Naturalist based in the Kabini area of the Nagarhole National Park in India.
I started birding in my early teens at my local patch Dagenham Chase, where i was to meet other keen birders Ken Barrett, Steve Bacon, Mike Sullivan and Colin Evans. It was with Steve and Colin that i first went on a rarity twitch, (the Little Bittern at Oreham Common West Sussex on 9th April 1988 ). Since then i have amassed fairly respectable BOU, Local Patch, Essex and London life lists. I have also birded in Canada(Pelee),USA(Arizona), and the Greek island of Lesbos. I am also a football fan West Ham United being my team of choice. I enjoy quality real ale, a pint of Hicks in The Atlantic Hotel St Mary's is one of my favourites.
Started birding at the age of six. Broad interest: identification, subspecies, ringing, DNA, twitching, vis migging, breeding birds, world listing, etc. Wide interest in other subjects as well (ecology in general; vertebrates; some insect groups; plants). And occasionally I even manage to write an article. I have an unexplained interest in little visited sites, which often turns out to be very unproductive for my life list ;-)
