Avid wildlife watcher and photographer
A retired teacher who searches for interesting birds in south east England.
I took up birdwatching in November 2014 after a friend took me out one afternoon. Since then I have become hooked along with wildlife photography.
Not interested in chasing around the country just to get a tick. There's nothing like walking the countryside and just when you least expect it you find something to make your day - and you often do if you just take the time to stand still and enjoy.
Cambridgeshire

Started my list from scratch in 1998 and began twitching in 1999. Unfortunately I don't get as much time birding as I would like. I am currently studying for a Sports Science degree which takes up a lot of my time. Lived in Cambridgeshire for 4 years now and find the local birdwatchers to be very friendly and helpful.

Very new birder, 22 years old, still finding my feet but would one day love to emulate the scales seen on this site.

Amateur Birdwatcher with limited time to endulge these days. Spend most of my time around the Midlands but enjoy UK hols to birding hotspots.
East Sussex
United Kingdom
I like to think that I'm half decent birder but still get caught out by iffy gulls and dodgey ducks. I am a self-employed quizzes writer and as such can manage to get out a couple of times a week usually in and around East and West Sussex.
Patch birder with a preference for self finds and visible migration

I first became interested in birds when I spotted a nuthatch in my garden several years ago. Having learned to identify the more common garden birds, I began heading out into the countryside near Wythall where I live to see what I could find.
A chance encounter with a group of birders in Devon four or five years ago opened my eyes to the world of waders and seabirds, but it was a trip to Islay in May 2006 that prompted me to get some decent binoculars and a scope, and to start listing the species I had seen.
Although not immune to the odd twitch, I try to avoid chasing totals and instead concentrate on honing my birding skills and enjoying the simple pleasures of being out in the field.
In 2008 I set up Worcestershire Source, a free reference point for bird sightings in the county of Worcestershire, which I now run with the help of my good friend Kay Donaghy. I also have a blog called Eye To The Telescope, where I write about my birding adventures.

I have been birding seriously since about 1994. A few years ago I started Avian Pursuits Nature Tours to lead birders around the world to help them see so many of the wonderful birds of the world.
Teacher, musician and keen Hampshire birder
Been birding since a very early age in Shropshire. Three years in Plymouth in the late 1980s were great for birding. Since 1992 I've lived in Thetford and worked at BTO, currently as the Atlas Coordinator.
I will add some profile details in the near future.
Birding for two years so complete novice
I love nature and recently started taking some photographs of birds and water foul in my area. This is a good birding place that is in line with migration.
Lyon County, Nevada
United States of America
I have been birding since 1976. I lived in California until 1998 when I moved to Nevada hence my interest in California and Nevada county listing. I also keep lists of each state I have visited as well as a World, ABA and ABA Continental list. After retiring from my day job in 2007 I went to work for Great Basin Bird Observatory (GBBO) from 2008 to 2013. I was also a member of the Nevada Bird Records Committee from 2003 to 2013.

Getting a bit long in the tooth and my trip to Brazil in 2006 might be my last adventure of that nature. [I said 'might'] So my activity is almost exclusively limited to East Sussex - which is not a bad area to concentrate on. I am a licensed ringer but I have scaled down my actiivity in this field too.
