The Australian list used by BUBO Listing is based on the long-awaited list published by Christidis & Boles (2008) - "Systematics and Taxonomy of Australia’s Birds". Unfortunately this has not been updated since, so there are several species, and taxonomic changes, missing: an alternative up to date list to use is the IOC Australia list.

Within BUBO Listing, some species are listed as "provisional" - these include those given in the Supplementary list by Christidis & Boles, plus a small number of other species recorded even more recently. However, if you wish to record a species on your Australian list that is not currently available, then please Contact Us and we will investigate with a view to adding the species as soon as possible.

Additionally, if you wish to record a list against an Australian state or territory, you will find the main list has been cut-down accordingly for Australian Capital TerritoryNew South WalesNorthern TerritoryQueenslandSouth AustraliaTasmaniaVictoria and Western Australia. For providing such cut-down lists, many thanks are due to Frank O'Connor - see Frank's Birding Western Australia website.

NB: Scientific should also be updated, using '[lumped]' or brackets for the old specific name, e.g. Genus specific [lumped] or Genus [specific] subspecific.
NB: Notes only allow up to 255 characters, but there is no enforcement of this. Anything longer will be truncated without warning.
