Zitting Cisticola & Fan-tailed Warbler.

Hi all

Whilst editing my world list, i noticed that i had Fan-tailed Warbler ( Basileuterus Lachrymosus ) & Zitting Cisticola ( Cisticola Juncidis ) as entries.
Aren't they the same species ? I deleted both and tried again in case there was an amendment, but both were still available.
Am I missing something ? :unsure:

Just googled the two species and discovered there is a Fan-tailed Warbler on the Pacific coast.

Not the same family as the Eurasian one, hence name change to Zitting Cisticola. Should have googled it in the first place,

Easy trap to fall into with American and European birds that have the same common names. Another one to watch for is Black Vulture.

That's what the scientific names are there for - that one was Cisticola and one Basileuterus should have been a big clue. Both big, longstanding genera in separate families in very different parts of the world.

More confusing is where the same name is used for different closely-related species. 'Tinkling Cisticola' for instance is used in Clements for C. tinniens, but for C.rufilatus in most African field guides, where C. tinniens is given as Levaillant's Cisticola.
