Golden Eagle - Cumbria

I'll be staying near Shap this weekend. Does anyone know if the Eagle is still resident and viewable from the Lake Distict watch-point near Haweswater?

OK. I'll answer my own question. Yes it is and it gave great views soaring over the valley for over an hour this morning. Being mobbed at one point by a male hen harrier.

Worth the trip.

Hi Dave

Sorry you didn't get an answer in time, but I'm sure the sighting was all the more enjoyable for not knowing!

BTW, I see you have a bit of work to do to catch Andy now. Enjoy the spring!

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I think I've got Andy worried this year. I see he had to sneak a 'work' trip to London today just get Ring Necked Parakeet.

I'll be in Norfolk next week for a few days. It will be interesting to see just how many of his local specialities he lets me in on!

I hear you had a good week there recently.

Enjoy Norfolk. My few days there were very enjoyable, with Rough-legged Buzzard, Goshawk, Great Grey Shrike and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker the highlights. Not a bad year list for just a week in the country, although it may well not rise any further!
