Band-rumped stormie in the UK

With two records of band-rumped storm petrel (both Cornwall; 2009 and 2020) just being accepted by BBRC, any chance of adding this species to British lists so that us lucky blighters that saw one of them can add to our lists? Many thanks.

Hi Richard - have they been accepted to species level then? (And if so, which?)

No, Andy, only to group/superspecies level.

Ah right. No, we don't add aggregates to BUBO for listing purposes I'm afraid. Full species only. It's rough when you've got a case like this, but same for all of us (including me).

If anyone wants a way around this: Madeiran Petrel has been accepted to species level in Ireland on the basis of a specimen record from 1931, so you can add Band-rumped stormie to your Britain, Ireland and Isle of Man list that way!

Of course, the Irish specimen record is way before the split, so it would be interesting to know which, if any, of the superspecies group it would be assigned to now. Anyone know if IRBC have reviewed it? Each to their own, but I would not be prepared to use a convenient device like this to crowbar a bird onto what is supposed to be a comparative list of species, no matter how wonderful an experience it was seeing it. (I have the same issue with 'Fea's Petrel', by the way - all 3 I have seen were brilliant experiences, but on current knowledge entirely untickable.)
