Thayer's Gull in Lincs

11 Apr 2012 23:24 #1 by Johnny Allan
Hi there,

I notice that some UK400Club listers have already added the putative Lincs Thayer's Gull to their UK400Club lists. Now why they would want to be part of the UK400Club is a mystery to me but I defend their right to be so. My question is, as their 'Judge, Jury and Executioner' is claiming this bird to be a hybrid (a claim he repeated on site today), why are they already adding it to their lists ?

Regards

Johnny Allan

Bless 'em! Just relax Rubber and let the 'Ridgeleys' do what they want. You should be chuffed to bits that they're attempting to over throw their illustrious Dictator anyway. With the fall of Saddam, Colonel Gaddafi and the imminent fall of Bashar al-Assad in Syria the despot of Little Chalfont is fast becoming a 'MEGA rarity'!

Stay strong brother!

Yer probably right Bonehead,

his '97% of Thayer's are hybrids' comment was classic UK400 twaddle. With this and his utterances on the Sussex Parrotbill etc, it's been once again suggested that he's just an attention seeker but that's by the by.

I was just wondering when birders sign up for the 'Judge, Jury and Executioner' experience, why would they immediately stick Thayer's on their UK400Club list when they really should be waiting for the 'Judge, Jury and Executioner to be giving them the nod ? It's probably the wrong question anyway.

Nice to see some of the other bredren there yest.

Later bro

Don't judge everyone by your own high standards Rubber! Us BOU boys have the patience and integrity to await a reasoned decision and abide by the 'referees decision is final' rule however some birders out there would tick their own Grannie .....if she turned up to a family party adorned in a feather boa!

I have to concur Boney,

submitting to the will of the 'Judge, Jury and Executioner' for some questionable extra ticks is not something I (or the majority of birders) would relish, but at least on BUBO all are free to make the choice and I defend their right to do so. From what I've read, Lego has disqualified some of them for cheating anyway but that comes with the territory I guess.
