Creating a World list from many regional lists

10 Aug 2009 06:18 #1 by John Raven
I'm looking for a way to create a World list from all of my regional lists. I can see how to create a list from a single other list, but I have nine regional lists. Apologies if I have missed something obvious - I would be very glad for any suggestions.

Hi John

Unfortunately this is not possible, so the best way is to create your World list based on your largest single regional list, then add the missing species.

Although possible it would be tricky to implement this, due to having several different taxonomies and the same species undoubtedly occuring on multiple individual lists.

Cheers

Alternatively John, we could put the world list together for you, via the "list import service" , although as Mike says, although we could put the majority of the list together for you, there might be issues due to variable taxonomies that you'd be left to resolve (although we should be able to identify these for you). As described there, there would be a small charge for the time and effort involved. Just let us know if you'd like us to sort this for you.

Best wishes

Andy

Thanks Mike and Andy
I still have some others to add anyway (PNG) so I'll probably create a world list myself when I can muster the enthusiasm.
It's a great site you have, btw.

Actually we don't have a Papua New Guinea base list on BUBO Listing yet - if you know of an official one then please let us know and we'll try to get this up and running soon.
