Silver Gull on Bali - first for the Oriental Region

A nice lunchtime sighting for a visiting Australian birder at Sanur on Bali recently was a small immature gull later identified from photos as a Silver Gull. The photos are available on the Oriental Birding yahoo group website . This is thought to be the first for Indonesia outside of West Papua.

Somewhat surprisingly, this appears to be the first record for the Oriental region. We have therefore added Silver Gull to our OBC list. We currently don't have an Indonesian base list available, so if anyone can find an official electronic one please let us know!
