Duplicating birds

I'm new to all this. I've set up lists for the 5 big regions of the world I've birded in hoping to build a life list.
Yet Bubo lets me list the same species of bird eg osprey in different regions, thus duplicating birds and wrongly inflating the total number.
How can I avoid this? (Short of just using my memory!)

Hi Jenny
You can keep lists for any region or location in the world that you are interested in. If you have seen Osprey in the Oriental and African regions for example, that's fine: you can add it to both lists and it will add 1 to your Oriental list total and 1 to your African list total. It is not adding 2 to any total.

It sounds like you might be wanting a World list if you are interested in an overall total of birds you have seen anywhere. You can create a World list (IOC or eBird/Clements) in the same way you created your other lists.

Many thanks for that Mike. I guess I should have worked it out myself. Quite logical really.
All the best
Jenny
