Missing species for Gambia

There are quite a few birds missing from the Gambia list which are now on the Africa Bird Club list. These include

Brown-backed Honeybird, Prodotiscus regulus
Solitary Sandpiper, Tringa solitaria
Alpine Swift, Tachymarptis melba
Greater Swamp Warbler, Acrocephalus rufescens
Black-backed Cisticola, Cisticola eximius

I've not done a systematic check; these are just some I'm aware of because I've recorded them there myself during 12 years' residence in the country.

There are at least 2 others I'm aware of that are not on the ABC list but have been recorded.

The first is Southern Grey Shrike, Lanius meridionalis which is included in both The Field Guide to the Birds of The Gambia and Senegal, Barlow, Wacher and Disley and Birds of West Africa. I'm not sure why this is not included in the ABC list. Possibly taxonomic issues involved?

The second is Mottled Swift, Tachymarptis aequatorialis  for which the first record for The Gambia has been published [Barlow, C.R., Shannon, T. and Roy, K. (2021), "New records of Tachymarptis swifts in The Gambia, including the first Mottled Swift T. aequatorialis", Malimbus, 44 (1), pp 75-78]

Can the Bubo lists for The Gambia be amended?

Hi Kev

Unfortunately the ABC decided to stop maintaining their country lists several years ago, and hence we stopped supporting them as we already have IOC Africa lists . We recommend using these instead. There are probably some missing species from these, so please do point any out.
