Brazil now available

We have now made the Brazilian Ornithological Records Committee or Comitê Brasileiro de Registros Ornitológicos (CBRO) list available within BUBO Listing , so we look forward to seeing some Brazilian lists on BUBO Listing soon!

Hopefully the rest of South America will be online within the next few weeks.

It's great that the Brazil List is up on BUBO; is there any interest in an Ecuador List (based on Ridgely and Greenfield for preference)?

I appreciate that it would take a long time to produce such a list, and possibly quite some time to load and test it before release. Depending on how the process works, perhaps I could volunteer to do some of the grunt work? I expect that there are other people who may be willing / able to help.

Thanks for all the time and effort that the team put into BUBO.

Hi Jon

We're working on some "behind the scenes" changes to our species database at the moment, making it hopefully easier to copy species between lists, and we should bring the IOC world list on board when this is done. Then I would like to use the SACC list for South America, and I think it makes sense to use their country checklists for Ecuador and other countries: I believe these are probably the most accurate and up to date (unless a country-specific authority exists, as in the case for Brazil for example).

Hope this sounds sensible to you. Your offer of help is much appreciated as well so we will look to take you up on this when we can!

Mike,

thanks for the reply - and I appreciate that SACC is probably the best long term South American authority, although I find it rather hard to discern the current state of play for any individual country. It will be nice when Clements, NACC, SACC, BOURC etc all align - although I won't hold my breath!

Best regards,

Jon Edwards
