Any BUBO Listers see the Tufty then?

I've just added Tufted Puffin as a pending addition to BOU, Britain & Ireland, Birdwatch and UK400 club baselists - are any of the seven lucky observers of the Kent bird active on BUBO? Would be great to see it appearing in the listings!

Regretfully, no. I spent a fruitless morning on Walton pier. On a pedantic note I see that Oare marshes is on the 'Swale Estuary' I always thought that only rivers have estuaries. As the Swale does not have a source it can hardly have an estuary! It is just the stretch of water that separates Sheppy from Kent, in the same way that the Channel separates England from France (Channel estuary anyone?)

With my WeBS hat on, we've always referred to the Swale as an estuary, although as you say it is a rather atypical one. It is certainly estuarine in nature, and really forms part of the larger complex of estuarine habitat between the Kent and Essex coasts, also including the Thames, Medway, Crouch, and so on (as far as Felixstowe really!)

Cheers
