Brown-backed Solitaire - potential first for ABA area

19 Jul 2009 17:36 #1 by Mike Prince
A Brown-backed Solitaire Myadestes occidentalis, was photographed and recorded in Miller Canyon, Huachuca Mountains, Southeast Arizona on 16 July. If accepted this would be the first for the ABA area. Previous records (from Arizona and Texas) have however not been accepted: the species is a popular cage bird in Mexico.

We have added Brown-backed Solitaire as a "provisional" species to the ABA and Arizona lists in BUBO Listing. As with other provisional species, should the record later be rejected we will remove the sighting from people's lists.

See some photos of this bird by Brian Magnier on Flickr.
