Long time rock-climber, and part-time birder. Father of Andy, and Grand-dad to Tom. Most of my active birding was during the mid 1980s before Andy could drive! However, always interested in any local wildlife and always take bins and field guide on foreign holidays. Update 2009 - This listing lark is getting a bit too addictive!
Started birding in 1982 but did not start twitching until I moved to Norfolk in 1988. My last real Twitch was to the Red-flanked Bluetail at Thorpeness in 2006. Although I did venture on to the wild side and went to Billingham to see the Glaucous-winged Gull in Jan 2009

Started birding in 2009 and began a list just to see what I had actually seen .. Now interested in seeing the list grow but without becoming too obsessive about it.
A fairly new birder have only been watching birds since 2006 and only include a species when I have a verified photo of the bird.Look forward to seeing many more and chatting to the knowledgable people here and those I may meet in the field
Thanks Dave
I have just retired and am a beginner to this subject but i am actively enjoying it. Any help or advice would be appeciated

20 something lad reigniting a childhood passion for all things nature! The feathered variety especially!! Twitch when possible, but generally a casual birder.
Started birding Christmas 1976 when I was given my first pair of bins. Had the foresight to start listing birds I had seen on January 1 1977. My first birding trips away from my native Leicestershire were to North Norfolk where I was fortunate to stay at Nancy's. Happy days. Had an ideal local patch in Cadeby Quarry (sadly now much restored back to farmland). First twitch was the 1982 Marmora's Warbler, three of us in my MG was a little short on space. I was a Scilly regular until 2004. I worked for Point Reyes Bird Observatory in California for five field seasons in the nineties. I have lived in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cheshire, Flintshire and now Denbighshire. Five favourite birds Waxwing, Swallow, Nuthatch, Dipper and Grey Wagtail and Varied Thrush (six then) and Wheatear (seven then). Five favourite birding locations Bryher, Bolinas Lagoon, North Norfolk coast, outer Point Reyes and Mallorca. Five best UK twitches, Kenidjack Yellow throated Vireo, Holkham Red breasted Nuthatch, Lunsford Park Golden winged Wabler, The Needles Alpine Accentor and Nottingham Cedar Waxwing and now Royal Tern at Llandudno (nice to get a mega so close to home)
Birding since 1979, twitching in UK 1986 - 2002 when I left the UK to live in Asia. Resident in Thailand since 2004.

Birder for the last thirty years, twitching since 1993.
Lived most of my life in Leicestershire, but family originally from South Wales.
Keen interest include sea-watching particularly in the Bay of Biscay, Cetaceans, Orchid spotting and supporting Liverpool Football Club and Pontypridd Rugby Club.
Birding since November 2012. Excited to be involved with such a great pastime. A resident of Japan and South Korea for many years, currently based in Sapporo, Hokkaido, JP. Pennsylvania (Chester County), USA transplant.
Started my bird lists on 1.1.1987 - but carried forward a Buff-breasted Sandpiper from 1986. Most birding is within a short drive of Portishead these days; although the south coast beckons occasionally now petrol is a bit cheaper.
Prefer to spend time on Walton Common during the summer (Butterflies and Plants) where I am volunteer warden for this Avon Wildlife Trust reserve.
