58 years old - started birding in 1979 but after about 15 years the hobby has taken a back seat. I still continue casually from time to time.

A young birder, who has only recently started but quickly got the bug for birding. So when I'm not swan diving over the try line on rugby weekends I'm filling my time on my local patch and areas to add lifers to my uk and leicestershire lists.

Passionate birder with 37 birding goals gradually increasing corresponding checklists including: yard, counties, states, ABA areas, ABA regions and world. As of 4 Nov. 2011 I have achieved 5 birding goals and am getting close on several others among the remaining 32. I have also qualified for 18 of the 29 relevant checklists that are maintained by the ABA. Am definitely hoping to do a lot more birding and exploring new destinations in the future!
Been birding since janurary 2006. Now i'm starting to realise once you get to 150 providing you put the effort in you might get 1 aweek at best, once at 200 a couple a month, I've not reached 250 yet, but have mates who have and they're looking to get 1 a month. Its a frustrating game at times, but the rewards are worth the effort.
My interest in birds started off in the mid 70’s with a fascination with bird tea-cards which lead to a few years of egg collecting. Though illegal it was pursued in innocence and didn’t last long. That interest reemerged after leaving the British Army in 1990 after spotting a Great Grey Owl in Alberta Canada. This lead to being involved in raptor rehabilitation, bird banding (ringing) for 8 years, 10 years of of birding in BC Canada (2001 - 2011) and now 12 years of birding and occasionally twitching in the UK. I have also enjoyed a few trips abroad such as Texas, Washington, Oregon, California, Greece, Spain, Gambia and a fantastic ring trip to Ascension Island. I haven’t twitched every year but am enjoying adding new species over the last couple of years.

My birding life began as a teenager in South Shields in the 1960s, when I was a pupil of the eminent local naturalist Fred Grey. I have lived in Oxfordshire since the 1970s. Not a twitcher, but a keen local patch and holiday birder.

I have been birding since 1984 and founder member of the "Friday-night Gone Club". If you do not go you will not see it.

Birding since 1976 - mainly local patch at first but a couple of periods of fairly heavy twitching (working for RSPB and BTO and surrounded by like-minded folks), fair amount of travel (tour leading for Sunbird and Naturetrek) but now with young family, back to local birding in Beds/Cambs with occasional tour leading.
37 years old; trying to be like Peter Pan and to never grow up! Still an active Britain & Ireland lister, but gone are the halcyon days of the 1990s and 2000s. Have dabbled with the Western Pal but being on Corvo has burnt me one too many times.

Bird-ringer and watcher, not into twitching, but like lists!
First became interested in birds after reading the Ladybird books as a boy. Mainly a patch watcher hence low list totals but will attend the occasional twitch to nudge them on a bit. Moderator for the Hoslist website from 2006 t0 2007.

Haven’t been birding since 2010 ish. Updates now only from non-birding holidays or very rare local sightings.
One of the founding members of BUBO back when we were undergraduates at Bristol University! Birding since a young age, and all by birding records get submitted to eBird where they will endure long after my demise. My lifetime goal is 100,000 eBird checklists. Latterly also making sure to catalogue other forms of life using iNaturalist. Twitched fairly heavily before I left the UK, and it stunted my growth as a birder. Now I live in Brisbane, and enjoy the awesome birding in Australia. Emigrating somewhere with loads of birds is a great cure for the twitching bug.

Lifelong interest in all aspects of Natural History including birds. Professional ecologist/botanist but I have stepped up my interest in birds post 2005 and have since been on several organised bird watching trips in various parts of the world but still classify myself as a learner!
