I have always been interested in birds, but never really went out looking for them just watched them in the garden and when fishing.
From 2012 I started to go fishing less and found myself going out with camera to get pictures of birds and from there in 2014 I decide to see how many birds I could find in Dorset. And going on some guided walks with Birds of Poole Harbour I got to see some very nice places and birds and now hooked and want to find more.

I've birded since 1965 and we've fed the birds every day since March 1967. The first sighting of an Eurasian Collared Dove was in our yard and now they're ubiquitous!

I have been bird watching since as early as I can remember, around 8 years old! I have travelled fairly extensively and covered parts of Malaysia, Africa, Europe and South and Central America......still not 'done' North America although Ontario, Canada in 1978 was visited. I place emphasis upon absolutely positive identifications but am not a lister, enjoying bird watching in a more leisurely fashion......I have had some brilliant Twitches though, in the past!!

Birding since my dad showed me a Mallard's nest with ten eggs, aged 4 ! First rarity was Aquatic Warbler at Radipole in 1983 which I can just about remember ! Went crazy chasing everything in the 1990's but mellowed since romance, marriage and what inevitably happens afterwards (kids !). Still, go for some stuff, and I was the third person in Britain to put my bins on Blackburnian Warbler in UK ! Have got a few other blockers such as Great Bustard, White-throated Needletail and Philadelphia Vireo.
